Armed Rwandesse Soldier nearly Killed in Kabale district

Police in Kabale dstirct has rescued a Rwandese armed solider from being killed by angry locals.

The incident happened over the weekend in Kekubo village Butanda sub county Kabale district where the residents captured a Rwanda defense force soldier on accusations of crossing to Ugandan side when he is armed.

The rwandesse soldier identified as Ndagijimana attached to Alpha Taskforce of 17th Battalion in Nyamicucu Barracks Burera district.

One of the Kekubo residents said that they became suspicious when they saw a Rwandese armed soldier crossing to Ugandan side and started moving around their area.

The angry locals accused the soldier of having intentions of kidnapping Ugandans and take them to Rwanda for detention.

The soldier was saved by a sub county internal officer known as Matiya after shooting bullets in the air to disperse the angry locals who were determined to lynch him.

Kabala Resident district Commissioner (RDC) arrived at the scene and thanked the residents for being vigilant on security matters especially on matters concerning non Ugandans entering the country illegally.

He also warned them not practice mob justice when they happen to get another person of that kind, they should instead inform the security agencies within the region to arrest such people.

By press time, Ndagijimana was still held at Kabale Central Police station for interrogation.
