Among the wanted people by Police by today is a one Nantege Lydia who is believed to be having a same s3x relationship which is a crime in the laws of Uganda.

Nantege has not been only having a relationship with a fellow woman but also working with Freedom and Roam Uganda (FARUG) a homos3xual rights organization in the country.

According to Police, Nantege has been having her relationship with another woman identified as Kemigisha Lucy who is already detained at CPS Kampala.

“We’ve been looking for this woman for so long and we’ve tried all possible means but failing on several occasions but as we talk of now we managed to get her partner who we’re interrogating to get more information on how we can get to Nantege,” says the central police spokesperson.

The search started way back last month when Nantege came out and publically revealed she’s a lesbian further adding on that she feels more comfortable having a relationship with a fellow woman than having a man.

Police further says that last week they had an opportunity of arresting her when their intelligence alerted them leading them to the residence of Nantege.

This will be one of the days that she will never forget as Police intervened and raided her apartment in Mutundwe. Luckily enough she wasn’t arrested as she was away but instead they arrested her partner Kemigisha Lucy who was present at that time.

Nantege decided not to go back home but instead resort into hiding and up to now Uganda police is hunting for her on charges of gay s3x which punishable in Uganda by life imprisonment.

She remains in hiding as no one right now know where she is. It is even suspected that she might have already crossed the border and fled to Kenya because of the life sentence punishment that she can get when arrested and taken to courts of law in Uganda.

LGBTQ people and their families have long been on the receiving end of legal and cultural discrimination in Uganda. These attacks have taken place against a backdrop of the homophobic discourse from high ranking government officials and of recent the security minister linked this minority community to a terrorist group in one of the recent NTV televised interviews.

Police promises a cash gift to anyone with news leading to the arrest of Nantege.
