Police in Rukungiri has kick started investigations of circumstances under which a 19 years old man was assaulted to death after he passed through a farm belonging to a judge of the Court of appeal.

This happened on 3rd October this year, when a one Elia Natumanya, a resident of Rugarama village, Mugyera parish,Buyanja sub county Rukungiri district trespassed a farm belonging to Gashira Bakye Christopher of Bugyera village,Katero Parish in Buyanja subcounty.

The Kigezi Region police spokesperson Elly Maate says that preliminary investigations indicate that the deceased, after attending a church service, chose to leave it and on his way back home decided to take a shorter path in a farm belonging to one Gashira Bakye Christopher

“The workers at the same home who include Boaz Twebaze, Irahari Jonas, Duhimbaze innocent and others intercepted and assaulted him badly accusing him of tress passing in their farm.” The regional Police Spokesperson added.

He further said that the victim who is now the deceased got admitted at Rugarama health center IV and an examination revealed an injured kidney prompting the church father to also report a case of assault at Buyanja police station on the 16th October 2021.

The deceased was later referred to Kisizi hospital where he died from on the 21st October 2021 at around 3pm.

The suspects Irahari Jonas, Twebaze Boaz are in detention and the case has been registered at Rukungiri police station under file number CRB:1447/2021.
