The alleged motive behind the crime was related to issues surrounding conjugal rights and accusations of infidelity.
Fred Enanga, the police spokesperson, disclosed on Monday that following the receipt of information, the territorial police units in Greater Masaka and Ssembabule districts promptly apprehended the suspect.
This revelation took place during the customary weekly collaborative security briefing held at the Police headquarters in Naguru, Kampala.
Information gathered suggests that the couple’s relationship was marked by conflict, leading them to sleep in separate rooms.
Enanga recounted that on the tragic day, the suspect wielded a hoe and used it to fatally strike his wife on the head.
He further elucidated, “The motive behind this act of killing has been ascertained as jealousy. The husband accused his wife of both depriving him of his conjugal rights and engaging in extramarital affairs with other men within their household.”
Enanga emphasized the police force’s strong condemnation of such instances of spousal homicide.
He highlighted the brutality of the victim’s death resulting from being struck on the head with a hoe.
The spokesperson underscored that the police will not tolerate acts of violence within relationships or the broader community, and he emphasized that resorting to vigilantism is unacceptable.
