A 70-year-old herbalist from Kainogoga village in Mafubira ward, Jinja north division, has been arrested by the police in Jinja city for allegedly raping a 46-year-old woman.
The suspect, Siraji Wanzala, had been on the run since the incident, which occurred in May 2023.

According to James Mubi, the Kiira Police region spokesperson, the victim sought treatment from the herbalist for various ailments, including stomach upsets and issues with sexual performance.
The woman paid him shillings 120,000 for ritual treatment in May.
Mubi stated that the herbalist performed the rituals in his shrine at night and then instructed the woman to undress for additional cleansing, during which he sprinkled greenish fluids over her body.
Unfortunately, the victim blacked out during the process. Upon regaining consciousness, she realized she had been sexually assaulted.
The herbalist allegedly threatened her with harm if she dared to speak about the incident to anyone.
In a separate incident, Joshua Wandegeya, a 22-year-old teacher from Kainogoga, was also recently arrested for allegedly defiling a six-year-old girl.
He is currently detained at Jinja central police station, awaiting court proceedings.
