NUP sources have disclosed that the Kawempe North MP Muhammad Ssegirinya is currently admitted at Mulago National Referral Hospital Ward 6B.
This was reported by his personal Lawyer Erias Lukwago, he is guarded by Prisons’ staff.
The source said, that the MOH put in place a medical team that assessed him and relevant drugs were given to him but he declined to take them hoping security will eventually allow Ssegirinya to access his personal doctors.
”The convulsions should not worry members as they are faked with the full consciousness of the patient and they are intended to convince the public that he is beyond Mulago Hospital capabilities’’. Said the source.

According to the Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago, a number of investigations done are normal only that if he continues to decline taking his medications, then his health is bound to deteriorate.
Lukwago further stated that the legislator’s skin doesn’t look so good but this should not very much worry members as this will shortly improve if he resumes taking his medication which is already available to him.
Ton addition to this, the source reported that his refusal to take the drugs has put the MOH Ministry and Mulago Hospital in a dilemma as it is a situation which worries them because of the public opinion.
As a result, a committee of highly qualified Doctors from Ministry of Health (MOH) and Mulago Hospital has been formulated to carefully study this position and advise accordingly.
On the issue of food, apparently he has declined to eat hospital food, preferring food from his family, which also introduces a safety challenge given the possible multiple handling prior delivery to him.

The NUP leadership however is currently facing resistance from the wife of Ssegirinya, Twahira Akandida who would like the husband to resume medication as he is risking his life especially given that he has other ailments which were not disclosed by neither the wife nor the Ministry of Health officials for ethical reasons.
NUP officials are set to meet to discuss the real health threat of Ssegirinya’s life and the way forward if Government refuses to release him.
