The former CEO of Uganda Airlines, Mr. Cornwell Muleya, has been ordered by the court to defend himself against the accusation of disobedience.
Mr. Cornwell Muleya is charged with disobeying orders to appear and make a statement in regard to corruption related offenses.

The court also denied to temporarily provide Mr. Muleya’s passport, as requested by his lawyer, who emphasized that since the defendant is unemployed, he must travel to Equatorial Guinea for a business consulting agreement.
“One of the key terms for bail was depositing a passport and the matter is in advanced stages. However what court can do is to grant an expedite hearing so that he can know his fate,” Mr. Muhumuza added.

The prosecution claims that Mr. Muleya willfully disobeyed an order of the IGG dated May 23 requiring his attendance to give testimony and produce documents to the IGG regarding mismanagement of public funds, procurements, and staff recruitment at the Uganda Airlines under reference HQT/CO/561/2021 between May and June 2022.
