The bus, bearing the registration UBG 812K, was traveling along the Kampala-Mbarara-Isingiro-Kikagati route. Meanwhile, the truck involved, identified as a Fuso Fighter, had the registration UBL 945Y.
Notably, the truck was carrying both scrap metal and passengers. It appears that the driver lost control while descending a slope, leading to a failure in braking.
The truck veered into the opposite lane, resulting in a collision with an oncoming Global bus, which was en route from Mbarara to Isingiro.
Tragically, eight individuals traveling on the truck lost their lives, while one person aboard the bus sustained minor injuries. This injured individual received prompt medical attention at a nearby clinic in Isingiro.
Following the incident, the deceased individuals were transported to Mbarara Referral Hospital for postmortem examinations, while both vehicles involved were towed to Isingiro Police Station for inspection, as reported by Kananura.
