It has been a day of heightened tension and anticipation as supporters of the National Unity Platform (NUP) awaited the arrival of their leader, Robert Kyagulanyi, at Entebbe International Airport. Kyagulanyi, known popularly as Bobi Wine, had been on an international tour, meeting with leaders and supporters in different countries to garner support and discuss the state of democracy in Uganda.

As the plane taxied on the runway and came to a halt, a throng of supporters, journalists, and security personnel gathered had gathered at the airport but moments later as Bobi Wine stepped onto the tarmac, a contingent of officers and security personnel in casual wear surrounded him. It was a tense standoff between the opposition leader and the authorities.
In a surprising and swift move, the police hasn’t given any reason as to why they were arresting Robert Kyagulanyi though some people claimed that his return was a threat to public order and safety. Bobi Wine’s supporters, many of whom had been anxiously waiting for his return have been shocked and angered by this abrupt turn of events.
The destination to where Bobi Wine has been taken isn’t yet known though it is anticipated that he is being taken to his home in Magere.
As the police vehicle carrying Bobi Wine drove away from the airport, the crowd slowly dispersed, but the determination to stand up for their beliefs remained. The arrest of their leader had ignited a spark of defiance in the hearts of his supporters.
