A 31-year-old educator at Triple M Primary School in Kabale District was taken into custody for reportedly sexually assaulting a 17-year-old student at the school.
The incident occurred on October 21 at approximately 10 am in Ahamurimbe Village, Kaharo Sub-County. Allegedly, the suspect lured the victim to the staff room under the pretext of delivering books and then coerced her into a sexual act.

The accused provided the victim with Shs5,000 as hush money and warned her not to disclose the incident. The unprotected nature of the act was highlighted, and the victim’s parents promptly reported the matter to Nyanja police station, leading to the suspect’s arrest.
An investigation ensued, involving the documentation of the crime scene and the collection of statements from witnesses.
The police emphasized the teacher’s breach of professional and ethical conduct, citing the responsibility to safeguard students from harm. The case was recorded as aggravated defilement at Kabale police station.
Additionally, police reported a surge in rape cases in the vicinity of Kabale District over the last three months.
