A collision between a truck carrying silver fish and a taxi on the Kagadi-Kyenjojo highway in Nyanseke-Muhorro town council, Kagadi district, has resulted in the loss of 16 lives.
The incident, involving the truck with license plate UAD 431Q and the taxi with license plate UBM 426V, also caused severe injuries to several others who were returning from a funeral.

According to Acting Kagadi traffic officer Alex Akampulira, the taxi, which was traveling from Fort Portal around 7:30 PM on Sunday, collided head-on with the truck near Muziizi bridge, as the truck driver lost control and failed to brake.
Due to this mechanical failure, the truck crashed into the oncoming taxi.
Most of the deceased individuals, including taxi driver Henry Acaali, were residents of Kagadi town council and had attended a burial in Fort Portal city.
However, at the time of reporting, the remaining victims had not yet been identified.
Mayor Mustafa Maliiro of Kyamutunzi town council stated that multiple fatal accidents have occurred at the same dangerous spot.

Kagadi district Police commander Patrick Opiyo confirmed that the bodies of the deceased have been taken to Kagadi Hospital mortuary.
He further revealed that five survivors are receiving medical treatment at Muhorro community health center and Kagadi Hospital, with only one survivor from the taxi and the remaining four from the truck.
