In a tragic turn of events, Monica Nabukenya, a 25-year-old woman, that was living in Kayabwe had her final contact with relatives last Thursday, unaware of the impending doom.
Just two days later, her husband, 58-year-old Raed Wated, reported her disappearance to the Kayabwe Police Station, seemingly attempting to mislead investigators.
However, fate intervened when Nabukenya’s relatives arrived at the same police station, asserting that Wated knew where she was.

Prompted by this revelation, detectives, Wated, and his in-laws visited the couple’s home in Kalagala Village, Kayabwe Town Council.
To their horror, upon entering the property, a putrid odor overwhelmed them.
At that moment, Wated confessed to the detectives that he had killed Nabukenya after a DNA test confirmed he was not the biological father of their six-month-old baby girl.
Nabukenya’s sister, Royce Nayiga, recounted the shocking revelation.
Following Wated’s confession, he led the detectives to a septic tank on the premises where he had disposed of Nabukenya’s body.
It was revealed that Nabukenya had previously confided in her family about her disagreements with Wated regarding the paternity of their child.
When she was reported missing, her family suspected foul play.
Neighbors described the couple as living a private life until recent disagreements surfaced.
Wated had sought a divorce, but instead of pursuing legal proceedings, he resorted to taking his wife’s life.
Nabukenya’s body, found naked and in a state of decomposition, further added to the tragic nature of the crime.
Wated, an Israeli national who worked as a manager at a machinery workshop, had been residing in the area for a decade.
The village defense secretary revealed that Wated had bought a plot of land and built a house there, distinguishing him from other foreigners who typically rented apartments.

Dauda Hirigi Were, the Katonga Regional Police commander, confirmed Wated’s motive, stating that he considered Nabukenya’s actions of conceiving a child with another man to be an abomination in their culture.
Preliminary investigations also unveiled that Nabukenya had two children from a previous relationship.
This heart-wrenching incident serves as a grim reminder of the tragic consequences that can arise from domestic disputes and unresolved conflicts within relationships.
