In Kiruhura district, two individuals, Margaret Kendere and Ronald Bakashaba, have been detained by the police, while three others, Grace Namara, Allen Ikiriza, and James Amupire, are currently being pursued in connection with the murder of their in-law, Kwizera Emmanuel.
The alleged motive for the crime was his failure to pay the bride price.

According to Police spokesperson Fred Enanga, the group of individuals reportedly confronted the deceased, Kwizera Emmanuel, aged 35, and physically assaulted him due to his refusal to fulfill the bride price obligation.
Kwizera Emmanuel was a resident of Rwomuti village in Rugonji parish, Kiruhura district.
He had gone to retrieve his “wife” who had returned to her parents’ home the previous day.
The body of the deceased was discovered in one of the dams located on the farm of Rwakashuji George in Katete cell.
The police are actively working to locate the remaining suspects who are believed to have participated in the murder and intend to charge them accordingly.

It’s important to note that murder is considered a capital offense in Uganda, punishable by death.
However, the Constitutional Court ruled that the mandatory death sentence is unconstitutional in a case from 2006.
As a result, those found guilty of murder may be sentenced to life imprisonment unless the law is amended.
