The High Court in Kampala has released Abubaker Kalungi, the prime suspect who was accused of the murder of former Buyende District Police commander Assistant Superintendent of Police Muhammad Kirumira and his friend, Resty Nalinya
According to the judge, the prosecution failed to adduce substantial evidence to prove that Kalungi participated on September 8, 2018, in a double murder in Bulenga, Wakiso District.
Abubaker Kalungi will reunite with the community as a free man after the court said the prosecution failed to link him to the murder case.
Kirumira, an outspoken cop who was suspended from the Uganda Police Force met his ill fate on September 8, 2018, when his Toyota Corona vehicle was riddled with bullets discharged from rifles brandished by unknown assailants who trailed him on motorcycles.
