The suspension and arrest of a Link Bus Services driver, Mr. Andrew Jjemba, were prompted by a viral video showing him texting while driving.
The company’s public relations manager, Mr. Tom Best Aliinde, expressed strong disapproval of the driver’s actions, emphasizing their commitment to safety standards.

Jjemba was arrested under Traffic and Road Safety Regulations, and the police highlighted that using mobile phones while driving contributes significantly to road accidents in the country.
The annual crime report also revealed a 35 percent increase in common traffic offenses in the previous year, leading to a rise in road traffic crashes. In 2022, there were 3,901 fatal crashes, 10,776 serious incidents, and 5,717 minor accidents, marking a significant increase from the previous year’s statistics.
