A private security guard, Sunday Odongo, affiliated with the Samurai security company group, is currently in custody at Masindi Central Police Station on accusations of shooting a civilian.
The incident reportedly took place at the Oil Energy pump fuel station in Kijura cell within Masindi Municipality, at approximately 8 pm on Sunday.

According to reports, Odongo, who was on duty at the time, engaged in a dispute with the conductor of an omnibus taxi bearing the registration number UBN 352N, allegedly due to passenger loading at the station. To disperse the conductor and the passengers, Odongo discharged his firearm into the air.
Regrettably, during the incident, an innocent passerby was struck by a stray bullet. The identity of the victim, who sustained a leg injury, remains unknown at this point.
Following the occurrence, the wounded individual was expeditiously transported to Masindi General Hospital, where medical professionals are presently administering treatment for the severe wounds.
Julius Hakiza, the police spokesperson for the Albertine Region, has stated that law enforcement promptly intervened at the scene of the crime and apprehended the security guard. Odongo has since been taken to Masindi Central Police Station and is now facing charges related to causing injury.
