In Nakifuma, Naggalama Town Council, Mukono district, a distressing incident has occurred at Nakanyonyi Senior Secondary School where numerous boarding students are currently facing critical illness due to suspected food poisoning.

The gravity of the situation has prompted emergency response teams to deploy over six ambulances and saloon cars to transport the affected students to various medical facilities.
Among the hospitals receiving the students for urgent medical attention are St. Francis Naggalama Hospital, Mukono Church of Uganda Hospital, and Mukono General Hospital.
Confirming the incident, Naggalama Division Police Commander Simon Tsamusangire stated that they are actively investigating the potential cause of the food poisoning outbreak.
Despite the severity of the students’ condition, no deaths have been reported as of now, according to Tsamusangire.

While preliminary medical reports from Naggalama Hospital have indicated food poisoning as the likely cause, authorities are continuing their investigation.
The unfortunate event is believed to have occurred during the students’ supper on Wednesday, July 19, 2023. In the face of this distressing situation, Tsamusangire urges parents to remain calm, assuring them that medical personnel are actively managing the crisis.
