The internet has been a wash of stories of the famous MC Africa, the man behind the trending of Pia Pound’s song titled “Tupaate” involving himself in the scam of a road trip to Jinja.
Well the story is a little bit long but we’ll have to sum it up to what exactly happened and it is as below.
Since the breakthrough of the Mbale based mcee, many people created fake profiles on social media in his names with different intentions some of which we have come to know about today.
One of the fake accounts on twitter with the handle of @McAfricaUg went ahead to collaborate with different unregistered travel companies and planned for a 2 days one night road trip to Jinja from 16th -17th October this year.
The trip fees were Ugshs. 100,000 and this was inclusive of a silent disco, photography, accommodation, busowoko falls tour, camp fire, outdoor games, swimming, meals and performance by different artistes with a hashtag of #TULAMBULEJINJA.
Many people fell victims of this and paid for the trip, went ahead to be added to the WhatsApp group of the trip inclusive of the imposters but when the final day reached, they left the group.
By the time of the upload of this story the imposter is said to have acquired over Ugshs. 3M and he went on to delete his twitter account and switch off all his phones.
This is not the first time this has happened as about a month ago another road trip entitled to “Shorts and Shades” nearly ended in the same situation as the initial planner of trip failed to facilitate for transport of the people that had gone for the trip.
Mc Africa hasn’t come through yet to talk about this issue as he continues to distance himself from it.
