In Mityana, a manhunt is underway for Joseph Muwonge, suspected of committing a gruesome ritual sacrifice by killing his 19-year-old girlfriend, Jessica Nakamate.
The tragic discovery was made when Nakamate’s decomposing body was found inside her rented room in Kitavujja village, Sekanyonyi town council, Mityana district.
Despite domestic conflicts between Muwonge and Nakamate, the severity of the situation was not anticipated by those around them. The couple’s residence had been locked for over a week, and suspicions arose only when a foul odor emanated from the closed-off house, leading the landlady, Rose Nakku, to alert the police.
Racheal Kawala, the Wamala Regional police spokesperson, revealed the shocking condition in which Nakamate’s body was found – in a decomposed state, lacking a nose and tongue, suggesting a gruesome crime. The police suspect Muwonge of sealing the house after committing the murder.
Mityana police have issued an alert to neighboring stations in Wakiso and Kassanda districts, urging them to apprehend Muwonge on sight. Kawala emphasized the importance of Muwonge’s surrender by appealing to his relatives and friends.
This incident follows closely on the heels of another tragic case in the same district, where Jackson Tumukunde was arrested for suffocating his girlfriend, Lydia Kobusingye, allegedly due to suspicions of infidelity.
