Nine individuals lost their lives in a tragic incident when a speeding Toyota Hiace taxi collided with a stationary trailer on the Jinja-Iganga highway.
This unfortunate event occurred at Musita in Mayuge district when a taxi, with the registration number UBE 939H, en route from Kampala to Iganga, crashed into a stationary trailer, which bore the registration number RAC603Q/ RL1055. The trailer had also been on its way to Iganga but had experienced a mechanical malfunction.

Notably, the trailer had broken down on the highway due to mechanical issues, and it failed to display any emergency warning signs or reflectors to alert other road users, as confirmed by Michael Kananura, the traffic police spokesperson.
