The Uganda Electoral Commission has declared National Resistance Movement’s Andrew Muwonge as the winner of the LC 5 Kayunga by-election.
The commission says Muwonge won with a total of 31,830 votes.
He was closely followed by the National Unity Platform (NUP)’s Harriet Nakweede Kafeero who garnered 31, 380 votes
The difference between the two was only 450 votes.
NUP party leaders have come out to claim that the NRM candidate was just gifted with victory out of vote rigging.
“In broad day light, Museveni robs the victory of the people, and declares his candidate in Kayunga!” said Bobi Wine on his social media platform.
