Today Tuesday evening, Entebbe Airport had a fire breakout that panicked passengers from a waiting lounge.
The Uganda Civil Aviation Authority and Police said it was a minor incident.
The 3pm fire caused panic among passengers who were near the area it broke out.
According to authorities, the fire was caused by a short circuit.

“Passengers and all the other users of Entebbe International Airport were immediately evacuated as the UCAA Rescue and Fire-fighting Services team handled the situation,” said a statement from Mr Vianney Luggya, the spokesperson of the UCAA.
“A minor fire broke out in the ceiling of the passenger terminal building at Entebbe International Airport (Departures area) leading to smoke in the passenger waiting lounges near gate 2A and 2B at about 3pm this afternoon,” the statement added.
The UCCA revealed that the incident did not lead to any causalities and investigations to determine cause of the fire were underway.
All employees, passengers and attendants were asked to evacuate for their own safety and normalcy returned after a short while.
Mr Luggya futher added on saying that the situation normalised by 3.45pm and passenger operations have since resumed.
This is the second fire incident at the Airport this year after fuel reservoirs caught fire in May this year.
Luckily no causalities were recorded during the incident after UCCA firefighting and rescue officials put out the fire before it could cause and serious damage.

Police said there was no casualties.
However, the incident disrupted operations, especially for departing passengers.
