In a recent series of events in Kampala, concerning security threats, the police have made some significant discoveries. Initially, they confirmed the recovery of a single bomb near Pastor Robert Kayanja’s Miracle Centre Cathedral in Rubaga, which was fortunately defused.
This incident led to the arrest of Abdallahim Kintu, a 28-year-old suspect who was in possession of the bomb.

Following Kintu’s arrest, the police received a tip-off regarding suspicious activities in a rental room located in Lungujja, a suburb in the Rubaga division. Upon investigation, it was found that this room had been vacated by a group of youths earlier in the day.
The police’s bomb squad subsequently conducted a search of the premises and uncovered not one, but three assembled bombs, along with various materials used in making Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) or bombs. The police managed to safely defuse all three bombs on-site while their search for additional suspects continued.
During this tense situation, Pastor Robert Kayanja, who was conducting a service at the Miracle Centre Cathedral, learned about the attempted intrusion by a suspected terrorist.
After the bomb was rendered harmless, Pastor Kayanja, along with his security personnel, approached the police checkpoint near the church, approximately 100 meters away.
He expressed his gratitude to the police officers, including KMP commander Stephen Tanui, for their effective handling of the situation.
Pastor Kayanja also expressed relief that no one was injured, acknowledging the potential catastrophe had the bomb detonated inside the church or its vicinity during the service.
Pastor Kayanja urged the public to remain vigilant, as it appeared that terrorists had infiltrated the country. He commended the police and other security agencies for their swift response and the arrest of the suspect. He emphasized that this was not an idle threat, but a real danger to the nation.
Moreover, it was reported that, on September 2, 2023, another bomb concealed in a black bag was discovered and defused at Nabukeera Plaza near the Old Taxi park. These incidents underscore the need for heightened security awareness and measures to protect the public in light of potential threats.
