Omoro district Police has said that they will not tolerate electoral violence in the run-up to the Omoro District MP by-election, and all perpetrators will be apprehended.
Mugerwa Hassan Katumba, the DPC, Omoro called for cooperation from candidates contesting in the Omoro by-election urging them to follow electoral and security guidelines.
“We have issued guidelines and warnings to candidates and their supporters against defying security guidelines, we will not tolerate violence here, Mugerwa said.

The DPC’s comments come at a time when candidates have started campaigning for the MP seat to replace the deceased Jacob Oulanyah.
The Omoro by-election has attracted six candidates. These include Onen Jimmy Walter (IND), Odonga Terence (IND), Tolit Simon Akecha (NUP), Kizza Oscar (ANT), Ojok Andrew Oulanyah (NRM) and Odong Justine (FDC).
The Electoral Commission (EC) says the campaign meetings will run for 10 days, from Monday 16 – 24, May 2022.

According to trusted sources, President Museveni, who is also the national chairman of the NRM will be in Omoro to campaign for the NRM candidate on May 24.
Polling according to the EC will then take place on May 26, 2022, starting at 7:00am and close at 4:00pm.
