President Museveni has issued a directive for Balaalo individuals with non-fenced farmland in the Greater North to vacate the region within a three-week period. The affected sub-regions in the Greater North encompass Lango, Acholi, and West Nile.
The President expressed his concern regarding the presence of cattle in non-fenced areas, deeming it reckless.
He instructed the Division Commander, regional police Commander, and the Minister of Northern Uganda to issue orders for the relocation of these individuals along with their cattle from such areas.
The President’s message, delivered during a meeting with residents of Okidi in Amuru district, emphasized the necessity for individuals with cattle in non-fenced regions to depart promptly.
The President’s visit to the area aimed at addressing the escalating crisis of Balaalo settlement in the region. Additionally, he mandated the eviction of Balaalo occupying government land in locations like Lakang and Aswa ranch. He gave them a three-week timeframe to arrange for the transportation of their cattle from these areas, allowing them to sell or handle their cattle as they see fit.
