Frank Baine, the Uganda Prisons Service spokesperson has disputed social media reports that the state Minister for Karamoja Affairs Hon. Agnes Nandutu was intercepted as she attempted to escape from Luzira prison where she is serving a remand accorded to her by the anti-corruption court last week.
The Minister, according to Baine is cooperative with the prison authorities and that she is peacefully serving her remand that ends on May 3rd when she will return to High Court to ask for bail.
“The Honorable Minister has not even got anywhere close to the prison gate. It is not true that she attempted to escape. There is too much misinformation on social media and we discourage Ugandans from relying on such sources for information,” he said. “We are having Minister in our custody and she hasn’t escaped as alleged,” he maintains.

A social media report by a parody account of NBS Television over the weekend indicated that the Minister had escaped from prison before she was intercepted at the gate.
