A school director in Makindye Division who was taken into custody for allegedly confining students due to unpaid school fees has been detained at Luzira Prison.

Celestine Kasolo, 48, a director and teacher at Kisugu High School in Makindye Division, faced 12 charges in a Makindye magistrate’s court. He pleaded not guilty to charges related to exam disruptions and wrongful confinement. The magistrate, Igga Adiru, remanded him until November 17 for a bail hearing and prosecution witness testimonies.
Kasolo was apprehended on October 31 following a tip-off about blocking students from taking their final exams. The prosecution alleges that he disrupted exams on October 26 and wrongfully confined several students.
In a separate case, the court also remanded Abdul Karim Sseguya on accusations of unauthorized possession of exam materials or information until November 17. Sseguya was accused of claiming to possess UNEB materials for the UCE 2023 exams on social media.
