Kitgum District authorities are currently in pursuit of Siliman Ochira, who is accused of fatally assaulting 54-year-old Ben Ocakacon to death.
The alleged motive for the attack was Ochira’s belief that Ocakacon was involved romantically with his mother in a potato garden near their residence. The incident, which occurred on October 31, 2023, is under investigation by territorial police in Aswa East region and Kitgum District.

Following the murder, Ocakacon’s body was transported to Kitgum General Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
Subsequently, the remains were handed over to the deceased’s relatives for burial. Ochira, who purportedly struck Ocakacon multiple times with a stick, causing immediate death, is now the subject of an intensive manhunt by law enforcement.
Police spokesperson Mr. Fred Enanga expressed strong disapproval of the son’s premeditated actions, describing them as elder abuse. He highlighted that Ochira had been monitoring his mother and attacked her alleged lover out of anger.
Authorities are actively working to locate Ochira and hold him accountable for the alleged murder. The incident underscores the condemnation of such violent acts within families.
