The Police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding a motor crash that occurred in Nakasongola district on Saturday, resulting in the unfortunate loss of four lives.
This tragic event took place around 11:30 pm at Kikoona Nakitoma village on the Gulu-Kampala Highway and involved two vehicles: a Fuso Fighter lorry with license plate UBL 345A, and a Mercedes Benz trailer with license plates UAQ 108W/ UAY227P.

This information was conveyed in an official statement released by the Police on Sunday, August 20.
Initial findings from the investigation suggest that the Mercedes Benz trailer, which was traveling from Gulu to Kampala, unexpectedly swerved from its intended path and entered an unauthorized lane at Kikoona.
This led to a head-on collision with the Fuso lorry. As reported by Sam Twineamazima, the spokesperson for the Savannah Division Police, the collision resulted in the immediate death of four individuals and caused injuries to another person.
The deceased have been identified as Kharim Abdul Walugembe (42) and Abbas Yiga, who was a passenger on the lorry.
Additionally, Adam Balyejusa (27) and an unidentified male passenger who was also in the lorry lost their lives. The injured individual is Samuel Muwonge (40), the driver of the trailer.
Samuel Muwonge is a resident of Natete in Kampala district, according to information provided by the Police.
Upon receiving the information about the incident, the Police promptly responded, visited the accident site, and documented the details.
The injured victim was swiftly transported to Nakasongola Health Centre IV for immediate medical attention. Later on, the individual was transferred to Mulago National Referral Hospital for further treatment.
The bodies of the deceased were taken to Nakasongola Health Centre IV mortuary to undergo postmortem examinations.
At the time of reporting, the wreckage of the involved vehicles remained at the scene, awaiting the arrival of tow trucks from Kampala to facilitate their removal.
