Two Rwandese women who carried Rwanda National Identity Cards have been today intercepted and arrested by Uganda Police on grounds of border crossing clearance documents.
At around 7:30am the two women were said to have boarded a Gate Way Bus from Kabale town.
On reaching the road block when Police asked every passenger to identify himself, as Ugandans presented Uganda National Identity Cards, Rwandese women also presented Rwanda National Identity Cards.
The two middle aged Rwandese women were intercepted at Rukiga – Ntungamo on their to Kampala.

They did not have border crossing clearance documents neither defend how they got into Uganda. This puzzled Police and took interest in their case.
Police detained at the road block waiting to be transferred to Rukiga Police station for investigation in their matter.
Passengers on bus got concerned upon seeing Rwandese women getting their bags off the bus and tears of sad rolling in their eyes.
Passengers wondered what the essence of border opening was yesterday if people cannot travel freely as it was the case before border closure.

The border was officially opened on Monday January 31st 2022 with strict measures until the ministry of health Uganda and Rwanda put measures in place for COVID-19 border crossing guidelines and control.
It may be not easy for Ugandans and Rwandese to cross Rwanda borders as it was expected.
The border is now focusing on serious traders and goods as two governments work on other pertinent issues for border crossing after opening.
