Two special needs Senior Four students suffering from sickle cell disease in different schools passed away during the week.
Edwin Wamutale, a student at Saint Noah Mawaggali Secondary School in Buikwe district’s Njeru, and Celine Anne Namuwase, a student at St Andrew Kaggwa, Gombe High School in Kawala, Kampala, were the unfortunate candidates.

This information was disclosed by Jennifer Kalule Musamba, the spokesperson for the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB), during a weekly security briefing at the Police headquarters in Naguru, Kampala.
The students’ deaths occurred shortly after they had begun their final O’level examinations administered by UNEB.
In another incident, six teachers and an invigilator at Nampita Secondary School in Yumbe, West Nile, were apprehended by the police.
They were accused of possessing unauthorized materials and causing disruptions in the examination room.
The arrested individuals include Julius Caesar Obbo, an economics teacher, Josephine Angukoru, a biology teacher, Boniface Ntibiringirwa, Godwin Wasswa, James Bamukabire, Emmanuel Okello, Saddam Hussein, and invigilator Bosco Oryema.
