The internet especially social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, has over the past 24 hours been flooded with pictures of Uganda as a country displaying boxes of Lato milk and tea leaves and coffee as other countries were showcasing more innovative ideas on the same event.
The Ugandan President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni was on Sunday 2nd October welcomed by Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, UAE Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence and Commissioner General of Expo 2020 in Dubai.
Among the key factors for the participation in the expo was for Uganda to show to the world what the country produces and hence call and create room for more investments from investors around the world.
Uganda’s participation theme was, ‘Right Place, Right Time’, underscores it as a country of many opportunities; from its unparalleled natural beauty, endowed with diverse wildlife and landscapes, to its strategic investment opportunities across multiple sectors.”
Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world was yesterday, October, 3 decorated with colors of the Ugandan national flag to celebrate the Uganda national day as the Dubai Expo 2021 kicks off.
Uganda’s exhibits at the Dubai World Expo 2020: President Museveni, politicians, traditional dancers, and a message that Uganda welcomes foreign investors. That’s Uganda’s economy, in summary. M7 is the main product and praising father and son is the main GDP economic activity.
However, Frank Tumwebaze the current Minister of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries has come out to defend the exhibitions at Dubai Expo saying that it is more than just exhibiting.
“The expo is largely a B2B (Business to Business) fora. Many Ugandan business people are busy with B2B meetings and as gov’t, we have engaged prospective investors and exposed them to our enabling policy and regulatory framework,” Tumwebaze said in a tweet that he made earlier on today.
On the other side, Rwanda used virtual reality to showcase its mountain Gorillas at the Dubai expo to give people a glimpse of what they’ll see when they visit Rwanda.
Uganda spent 3 Billion shillings on Beautifying the Dubai Expo Pavilion. The two floor pavilion has the country exhibition on the ground floor; offices and conference room on the upper floor.
The Dubai Expo is currently hosted by Dubai in the UAE and it was officially opened on 1st October, 2021 expected to run till 31st march 2022 and Uganda is among the 190 countries that are currently showing casing at the six months Dubai Expo 2020.
