Susan Basemera also known as Zani Lady C with her hit song, Ndoowa has been away from Uganda’s entertainment scene for eight years now.
To tickle your memory a little, Susan Basemera used to be known as a musician, Zani Lady C, before she left Uganda 8 years ago. With her then hit song, Ndoowa, she had become a force to reckon with in the industry.
After settling in America and changing careers, Basemera has for a long time been trying out severally to land a role in a Hollywood film.

Recently, fortunately, the talented actress landed her first role in the movie Little America. Before her deal breaker in Little America, she tried out acting in Can You Keep a Secret, Gubagudeko among other movies.
In an interview with The New Vision, Basemera says she has seen a lot in Hollywood and when she was asked to compare it with the Ugandan Film Industry; she says that Uganda still has a long way to go in terms of good stories, equipment, professional production teams, experienced characters, funding and great distribution.
“When the Industry is well financed with experienced stakeholders then it can go places,” Basemera says.

Due to her acting prowess, Basemera says the opportunity for her to feature in a Hollywood movie should have even come earlier.
In relation to her story, Uganda’s entertainment industry has, in the past, seen several artistes picking up acting roles in Hollywood. The most recent one known to many is GNL Zamba who featured in a TV series in Hollywood.
Other Ugandan Hollywood actors, actresses include Hemdee Kiwanuka, Anthony Semi, Ntare Guma Mbaho and Daniel Kaluuya, among others.
