Police in western Uganda are currently conducting an inquiry into an incident where unidentified gunmen, clad in army attire, looted a shop of Shs25 million. This event transpired in Katooke Trading Center, Kyenjojo District, at approximately 9pm on October 29, 2023.

Based on security camera footage acquired by the police, three criminals, all dressed in UPDF uniforms and armed with AK-47 SMG rifles, entered a store belonging to John Rwatooro, a 35-year-old resident of Katooke Town Council in the same district, and absconded with the money.
Rwenzori West Police spokesperson Vicent Twesige stated, “Upon entering the shop, the gunmen overwhelmed the shop owner and took the money.” The targeted shop is situated along Katooke-Hoima Road.
Remarkably, Rwatooro, the victim, was unharmed during the ordeal. He reported the incident to Kyenjojo Police Station at around 09:32am the following day, according to official police records.
Presently, the police have launched an investigation and established an inquiry file, entrusting the case to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Katooke. Twesige noted, “At this point, the suspects remain at large, and no one has been apprehended,” during a concise statement to journalists.
