Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng continues to give Ugandans hope as she talked about the COVID-19 breakthrough which is yet to be attained by the collaboration of scientists from Serum Institute of India and Oxford University.
The health Minister, who had visited Butanda Health centre III in Ndorwa County west kabale district, on Friday revealed that the two institutions had made a breakthrough with the vaccine and assured Ugandans that it will be purchased as soon as it’s confirmed by the World Health Organization (WHO).
“The vaccine will be so expensive as many countries will be trying hard to get it but the government will do all that is possible to get the vaccine given Uganda’s good bilateral relations with India.” Aceng added.
According to the minister, by December, the vaccine will have been discovered but added on that though this is expected, the population should keep on practicing the preventive measure stipulated by Ministry of Health as they await for the vaccine.
Currently the Ministry of Health is using Hydroquinone from India to treat the COVID-19 patients.
