The Uganda Electoral Commission has declared National Resistance Movement’s Andrew Muwonge as the winner of the LC 5 Kayunga by-election.

The commission says Muwonge won with a total of 31,830 votes.

He was closely followed by the National Unity Platform (NUP)’s Harriet Nakweede Kafeero who garnered 31, 380 votes

The difference between the two was only 450 votes.

NUP party leaders have come out to claim that the NRM candidate was just gifted with victory out of vote rigging.

“In broad day light, Museveni robs the victory of the people, and declares his candidate in Kayunga!” said Bobi Wine on his social media platform.

In the morning, Bobi Wine said that NUP’s agents were reporting massive fraud at the Tally Centre.

“From our independent tally of 335 out of 338 duly signed original DR Forms from Kayunga, we are leading with a difference of 15,000 votes. Now, they are adding their candidate hundreds of votes at several polling stations! Some of our agents who have tried to protest have been pushed out of the Tally Centre. Even then, we are leading by far. Be woke.” Bobi wine said.

The EC Boss appreciated the Commission’s desire and hard work and commitment towards working together with the people of Uganda to ensure peaceful and transparent elections.
